Both were amazing systems. The Wii was super popular. The GameCube was not. I still prefer the GameCube. I'll expand on this later.
What's Better, GameCube, Or Wii?

GameCube. Other than my Genesis, that's what I've grown up with.

Wii. Grew up with Just Dance, Just Dance 2, Just Dance 3 and Just Dance 2014. NOSTALGIA <3
But honestly, it's a superior console. Many more games and it's extremely hackable, so it does things it's not supposed to do. Repaid itself thrice, tbh.

Overall, if you take away Virtual Console, then the GCN has better games, at least in my opinion. Most series that were on both consoles, I preferred on GCN
Super Mario Sunshine > Super Mario Galaxy
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are on GCN and I never played Skyward Sword, but even if TP was Wii exclusive, I'd still say Wind Waker is better.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door > Super Paper Mario
Mario Party 4-7 > 8-9
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat > Donkey Kong Country Returns
Super Smash Bros. Melee > Super Smash Bros. Brawl (I haven't had much experience with Brawl, to be fair)
Plus games like Pokemon Colloseum, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Underground, and Underground 2, WWE Day Of Reckoning, Soul Calibur 2, etc.
I love the Wii, but in my opinion, the GameCube is a much better console. More nostalgic, too.

Replying to everything you said.
- Galaxy was superior to Sunshine, IMO. The controls are just way better. Besides, there's also Galaxy 2.
- I've never played WW, but Canadian Sword was awesome.
- TTYD > Super Paper Mario by a huge margin, I agree.
- Every Mario Party on GC is better, but, then again, Mario Party was never a big thing on Wii.
- I thought Jungle Beat was a musical game, LOL.
- Melee is better than Brawl, but Brawl was not a bad game.
Need for Speed is a good argument, but the rest are not. Colosseum was bad. Also, Double Dash was better than MKWii, if you take out online playing.
Wii had way more diversity, though. The three Japanese RPGs, Sonic Colours, Kirby games, Rayman Origins and many others. GameCube was just too Nintendo oriented.
Edit: What the fuck is this size=13.333333015441895 that keeps appearing in my posts?

I admit, nostalgia also factors into this somewhat, but then again, I'm already feeling a little nostalgic about the early days of the Wii, and I still prefer the GCN. And Double Dash!! was easily my favorite Mario Kart, so I agree with you there. I disagree about Colloseum though, it was amazing. It's the game that Pokemon Stadium should have been.
