This quote come from a gaming magazine called Retro Gamer.

“Backwards compatibility with Wii will be included but you’ll no longer be able to play GameCube titles. They’ll be on the Virtual Console store instead.”

While the Wii U cannot read Gamecube games, you will be available to to down certain Gamecube games from the Virtual Console. This will be the same manner on how you can play Nintendo 64 games through the Virtual Console on the Wii. This will expand the Virtual Console library greatly. No word on when the NGC games will be on the Virtual Console.

This news means nothing to me. I'm not a big fan of VC ports, or ports in general

This actually sounds great in some aspects because some gamecube games are becoming of the far and few, and it's difficult to find them obviously used, much less "like new."

Wouldn't be surprised if this happens. Might keep my Wii anyway though, just so I don't have to re-purchase the ones I already one.

Sparkshine ftw. Dude, wouldn't it be cool if you could atleast put your GameCube disks in the Wii U and it'd download them onto your Wii U for you instead of having to put the disks in?
