hey guys. so here is how skyward sword was developed.

day 1: they decided to recycle twilight princesses graphics and then they were thinking about controls. they decided that wii motion plus will be implemented. when it was implemented, link did not move his hand around like you did, instead it stayed in place. but however you swung, he would swing, but it was very unresponsive.

day 137: they started working on the story. they wanted to expand upon the hylian crescent. they decided to have this game take place all in the sky with the overworld being the sky we know today, but the surface world did not exist. but they decided to make epona a bird in this game so then they decided that this would be the first game in the series. they then decided that they would implement the faron province, the eldin province, and lanayru province and call it the surface. they then found out who the villian would be and then they realized who ganon really is and expanded upon his foundation. they had the whole plot sketched out

day 365: they finished writing the story, and then decided to work on the gameplay once again. aonuma said the gameplay sucks so they took out WMP and decided it to be the exact same as twilight princess. they planned out the dungeons and figured out all of the items.

day 730: they finished the dungeons. miyamoto challenged his friend to challenge aonuma to create skyward sword's gameplay fighting swordplay the same as in wii sports resort and so aonuma loved it and they set off from there.

day 951: they finished everything completely except the graphics. they started working on the graphics.

day 1200: they continued working on the graphics. they decided to do side quests.

day 1825: they finished the graphics and side quests. this was five years after development started, so they decided to work on polishing the game up.

day unknown: they released the game to universal acclaim and even sparkeh said it was the best game ever.

That is how Skyward Sword came to be.

thats cool, this game obviously had tons of work put into it, even it is basically a newer version of other zelda games, it still feels completly fresh and innovative, after paying around 40 hours of this game the perfect controls make it hard for me to go back and play older zeldas

You can't really make a game in three days, Linko.

-.-

But even so, just for one game, that is somewhere around 5 years....for one game.(Too lazy to detail the math)...they make 5 pokemon games every 5 years (if not more) and make a ton more moneyz! Even Mario games, they usually only take like 3-ish years

well linko, its been in development longer than any nintendo game ever, and take note of the fact that twilight princess came out in 2006, that means they prettty much started from when twilight princess was out. but at least we werent deprived of zelda for 5 years, in that time phantom hourglass, spirit tracks and oot3d came out

This game was obviously not about making money. Nintendo wanted to give a masterpiece to Wii and they really did. It did come out later than expected, but it was all worth it.

No Pokemon game was a masterpiece. Super Mario Galaxy was a fantastic game and it took a lot of years to make it (The previous game was Sunshine), plus they could recycle some graphic art. SMG2 was perhaps a masterpiece, but the engine was Galaxy's, so it didn't take as much time to make it.

Well yes, but it wasn't a forced attempt to do so, like everything Pokemon.

LOL, Linko, SS took 5+ years to make, so yeah, 1825 days is about five years (1826 if you count leap year :O) and day unknown is basically because we don't know the exact amount of time spent on it.
