Mario Sports Mix was developed by Square Enix, which gives me hope that Nintendo and Square could make a Super Mario RPG 2. Unfortunately, it's very unlikely.

Super Mario Rpg 2 was made. It was for the N64, released in 2001, and went by the Name Paper Mario. kthnx.

I'm talking about a true sequel, with Mallow and Geno, and gameplay and visual style more reminiscent of SMRPG.

Paper Mario is a franchise on it's own. It's not a direct sequel to Super Mario RPG, though it's similar.

It was going to be called Super Mario RPG 2, though, until they they renamed it.
