whats you guy(s) choice for a starter? im not sure it will be either tepig or oshawott im leaning towards oshawott.

i got the jap. rom and have tested all the starters.. this is what i think so far
Oshawott is well rounded
tepig is based on offense
snivy is based on defense

You are wrong. Tepig's final evolution is not pure offense. It is slow and has decent bulk. You can make it an attacker only if you want, but it can be defensive as well.
Snivy's final evolution acts the best as an ingame sweeper, because it is really fast, but you can pull off amazing Substitute+Leech Seed stalling with it (if you can bother spending that much time on a battle).

Trust me, I've had the game since September, so I know what I'm talking about.

In March I'm picking Oshawott I guess. Isshu has lame water types, except Swanna, who is most likely to end up as a HM Slave again.

i say go with oshawott! Its somthing that gains alot of power early and can take hits

No lol. Any main Pokemon game can be played through with any Pokemon alone, so yes, any starter will do. It's just a matter of taste.
Plus, this generation's starters are so NOT straightforward like Gen 4's. You had a bulky shit Torterra, hyper offensive Infernape and SuperAwesomePenguinPowered Empoleon. k

swanna? is that the one that looks like a duck/swan also like a spoof of wingull/pelipper family? That might be the only reason that i start with tepig is it rare to find swanna?

No not really. You just go hunting for feathers on the second big bridge and catch Swanna's pre evolution. I find it very useful, since it covers water HMs and Fly.

Goin' for Snivy. Swanna seems like the HM slave this time around as mama mentioned.
