The 3DS didn't sell well at launch. Weak launch games and dat price.

So that's why the price is being dropped WorldWide by about a third!

The new US price is $169.99, AU gets a drop to AU$249.99, and UK is some unknown price at the moment. This will take effect August 12th.

HOWEVER, for those who already own the 3DS and have it connected to the eShop before midnight EST, August 11th will be entered into the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program, which will give you 20 free games off the eShop, half of which are exclusive for those in the program.

10 of the games are NES games that will later appear on the eShop and include Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and the Legend of Zelda.

The other 10 that are exclusive to the program are GBA games and include Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit,
Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey
Kong.

Also, I learned the UK spells "program" as "programme".

20 free eShop games? sounds good, but they could just be things that lose your interest in several minutes; like 3d classics: excitebikes did.

DS was 35, it's not like they wanted to keep the same price for past and current generation.

actually i find $120 for a dancing game OUTRAGEOUS but still everything is overpriced these days D: but as i said, for the ds games there was alot less interactivity within the game and they were for the most part much shorter.

Ok, you're being ridiculous. DS games can be just as long as console games. your telling me there wasnt enough to do in pokemon? catching them all doesnt take up enough time? DS RPGs dont require overleveling? $35 was a decent amount and im happy to pay that much for a ds game, happy to pay $40 for a 3ds game, happy to pay $50 for a wii game. it costs a lot to make a game, and if a game is good, its creators should be rewarded with profit. Im happy to pay the amount that games cost, even if its a bit overpriced. Lets just be happy they dont cost more.
