We'll have a vote of which one is better, it'll be kept on the Forum, 2 days. If you already have your decision, please vote here.

@ the end, me and Skoch will make a decision from all the votes and we'll make the forum as such.

Do not think in the mannerisms of it's sexy, but rather on what impact it'll do on the forum, the effectiveness, and the fairness.

To Dfox, we are not using Chat groups, so some of the pros have been crossed out and things you can do in Chatango have been also crossed out.

Pros of Xat:

Xat has a feature that allows you to put a radio on the chatbox.

You can change what owners, mods, and members can do and make temporary moderators/owners.

There's a feature for video or voice chatting that's easy to use and works well.

There's an IM feature which adds your friends from Windows Live and AIM to your Xat friends and allows you to talk to them.

With Xat friends and PC/PM system, you don't need to open a new tab just to talk to somebody privately. When you click their name and click "private chat" it will allow you to talk to them in the chatbox on a separate tab. You can add friends and see what chat they're at and PC them no matter which chat it is.

You can give your chat tags so people can find it when searching using xat search feature.

Your Xat account CAN'T be hacked as long as you have account locking. People logging in from a different IP address will immediately be locked out and have no access at all to your account.

Xat also has no lag unless people are stupid enough to put like 10 smileys in their name and there are 5 or 6 people all with 10 smileys each. It will never just stall out and then post a bunch of messages in a row like Chatango does.

You can change your name without making a new account and you can change your picture right there in the chat, no need to open a new tab. There are also default avatars provided for you, but you can use your own.

They have a chat for helping with anything you could need and also a support system that doesn't require you to email them then wait for an email back.

Possibly the most impressive feature is the report unfair ban. Whenever you're banned by a moderator, you can fill out an unfair ban report which will be sent to the main owner. It will show messages leading up to the ban and give an option to demote the moderator.

You can also put your own Background on Xat, unlike Chatango. Also you can use your own buttons for sign out and stuff.

Oh, and Xat will show your chat on its homepage if a lot of users go to it. "A lot" can be as few as 5!

Cons of Xat:

You have to buy powers and days to make your user look sexy and even said above "it doesn't matter", it's quite unfair to those who don't want to waste money on a chat.

No IP's will be addressed (this one will be a big one me and Skoch will talk about), so if lets say a troll comes in, we can't auto IP him and tell him to get off the account.

No message deleting (Refreshing and/or signing in or out is WAY too much time to do some disciplinary action)

No automatic embedding (meaning videos will not be played and pictures will not be shown)

You can't upload an icon from your PC or a URL, you can only search in Photobucket or upload your own picture from your Photobucket account

You can't change your font in Xat, meaning everyone will have the same style font with the same color, and if there was a choice to change them, it would require money because obviously it would be a power with DAYS involved.

You can't ban words that might be overkilled to death such as Cool Story Bro (sorry for the example Pik, but you've gotten over it so I'm not targeting you) or posting videos.

What I think: (I KNOW I DOUBLE POSTED, IT'LL BE AN EXCEPTION): Xat is a superior choice compared to Chatango, because of it's luxuries, easy accessing, and downright sexiness. You can add everything, the chat won't be spammed to fucking death by videos, and it'll keep messages constant. The radio feature is quite great too, IMO, Dfox fixed it and I became in love with a song when it started playing (but it has no lyrics). Then we have group powers which aids the group chat a bit, such as Banish (which lets all users see through an animation when a user is banned and alerts them). Then, we have the very sexy backgrounds that you can place on Xat. Then Xat has the kick button which allows people who are idle to be kicked off, or to those annoying Anons to be kicked off as well.

HOWEVER, in my eyes, the cons outweigh the pros in terms of, what will it do for the forum. Yes Chatango might be less professional and less user-oriented (no powers or easy access to AIM and or Windows Live/MSN) however, the people who voted yes probably have powers, or some kind of past relation to Xat. Xat is more oriented to those who chat, not to those who have forum because it has activities and such that may have a possibility to adduct away people. Chatango doesn't have that sexy power stuff, but who needs it? If you guys are saying that powers aren't a big deal, then why are you constantly trying to switch over to Xat? Yes, Chatango BGs are pretty ridiculous and unfair, but I don't use them anymore. Smileys might be another thing that might not be fair either, but look @ Xat, they have a shitton of smileys that you have to BUY, and some people don't waste money on these kind of things, and some others resort to asking others to buy them some is "desperate" in my books. Games such as VGM wars would have to be canceled. A big problem is IP checking and Moderating. If we can't IP check or delete posts, then how will we stop "trolls" in time without taking the time to sign in and out and/or refresh? Refreshing might seem easy, but it's easier said than done. If mods can't do their work, then the forum would be negatively affected as well.

Just correcting a few things...

You CAN censor words on Xat with the group power "bad" which I will assign to the group. If you click it, it will show the word, though.

Some URL's work. Tinypic and Photobucket to do for sure. I'm pretty sure Imageshack doesn't. A lot of google image sites won't, however.

The majority of Xat smileys are free. There's a pretty large selection, also. I'd say around 300 or more free smileys. Chatango has like half and half. Most of the Xat smiley powers are only effects. Meaning you can add them to other FREE smileys.

VGM would still be very much possible. Xat has a youtube feature that stores up to 3 videos and auto-embeds them off to the left. If you aren't on the Xat page, it won't, but a second tab isn't so bad. Especially if you were only using it for VGM wars.

I do agree not showing the IP is a problem, but Xat bans by IP and if a user comes on with the same IP as a banned person (even if they managed to unban themself) or account, Xat will gag them.

I also forgot to mention Xat has features called protect and scroll. If you type /p in the chat. (owners only) New guests won't be able to talk for 3 minutes. It's useful if the chat is being mass-trolled/spammed. Scroll allows you to type a message that scroll across the bottom of the chat in the area where you type.

I think it's also worth mentioning that you can embed the forum at the bottom of the Xat chat where it would normally say "comments."

I guess I am the only one that doesn't like the way it looks, but okay.
Let's start Mama-ing!

Most of Xat's pros are not really necessary. I mean, why the fuck would I want to chat with my Windows Live and AIM friends over Xat, when most of us run their official programs (messengers) in background? Backgrounds and stuff aren't really necessary, plus you can't even change your font, which is gay. I am not willing to spend money on that crap because Serbia doesn't support PayPal. And even if it did, I wouldn't.

Anyone who has their Chatango accounts hacked, they are stupid. I don't think Xat will make you smarter >.>

Report unfair ban seems great though, but you can always take a screenshot of your chat if you feel the ban is unfair... Just a lame alternative...

The sounds are fucking annoying and it makes me rage. I don't want to turn off sounds, because then it would be just like Forumotion's chatbox, which is even lamer. If I am chatting, I want notification sounds, but not the ones that drive you crazy...

Oh, and for some reason, the Xat chat on the main page DOES lag for me, while Chatango does not...

If you get banned in Chatango by a person, you will not be able to talk on the chatbox at all. It is an automatic IP ban. Besides, how can I stop someone who pretends to be somebody else if I can't see a part of his IP address?

Might as well quit now. Nobody is giving their opinion and this post is total garbage. You DO use Xat, you know? Probably more than me.

Do you realize I've been moderator here on an alt for like a 2 weeks and haven't done ANYTHING? I was also main owner on the Xat. I membered Marioking then Guested myself. If you're referring to Xat powers, you can't abuse those. ._. I don't even use 90% of them. You don't know me at all. Stop making false assumptions.

I actually told TBY I'd be willing to give people powers if we stuck to Xat and maybe offer posting incentives on the forum for them, which would almost certainly increase activity and be a much better incentive than a rank IMO.

I voted no. I'm already use to chatango and I think it would be pointless to add another chat thingy here.

I actually like the way XAT looks now and i think it suits the forum more. I suggest we remove chatango for a few days and leave Xat on... People might change their opinions about it, like i did. This way we only have a few members on Xat and the majority of them on Chatango.

TBY, speak please Smile

Edit: Nevermind.

Can people actually start putting WHY they're voting yes or no? Xat/Chatango is dumb, shitty, nonsexy, sucks, etc is not a good answer. Especially if you use it yourself. ;]
