Iwata said in an interview that Nintendo is "considering the future possibility of digital distribution of packaged software" for Wii U, and also 3DS. Now he said it will not come at launch, but it does appear true, then it will happen later in it's life time.

I don't like downloading full retail games. It waists too much space.

Yea. It also depends on how much storage memory will Wii U have.

Digital Distribution is the future. They should incorporate a steam like account system, in which you would only buy a game once and have it played on all future Nintendo consoles and be able to download it as many times as you want. They already made a big mistake by only including half a gig of memory on the wii, and as a result, you couldn't do many of the cool things you would be able to do on other consoles. All that would hopefully be avoided with the Wii U. I can't see why you would see storing a game on your console(a machine that runs games) HDD as a waste. What else is it meant for? What would not be a waste then?
