I realized this thread doesn't exist. There are variants, but no Top 10 All-Time Favorite games. So here is the official thread for this subject.

The question: list your top 10 favorite video games. No limits, just remember these are favorites, don't make top 10 worst please, that's for another thread. It doesn't have to be 10: can be less (if lazy) or more (if you have many).

Here are mine, and a brief description (backwards order, since I'm lazy and this is easier for me):

1) Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door: Probably my first experience with an RPG outside of Pokemon, this game left lasting impressions, with so much to do and great gameplay, it has firmly established itself as my favorite game of all time.

2) Pikmin 2: Another game of fond memories, this game is glorious in anyway I can think of. I literally see no flaws (maybe the Purple Pikmin being a bit overpowered) and I absolutely love this game.

3) Paper Mario (N64): The original Paper Mario game is still outstanding and amazing. It's great in all regards, and the small flaws it has were fixed in the sequel. But even with them, the undeniable charm in this game makes it stupendous.

4) inFAMOUS 2: FLAWLESS VICTORY. The game takes the first game, which was great, and makes it OBSOLETE. Incredible story, gameplay, UGC, and endings make this an incredible game.

5) Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Screw Sonic CD, it sucks, this game is the ultimate Sonic game. With Knuckles being playable as well as Sonic and Tail, the many stages, and blast processing make this an ultimate platformer.

6) Super Mario World: Just short of being my favorite 2D platformer, but this doesn't mean anything: Super Mario World is incredible. The best 2D Mario platformer to ever be released, with plenty of levels to complete and explore. And Yoshi.

7) Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald: 3rd gen da bess. Not 1st. Not 2nd. Not 5th. Definitely no 4th. This game is boss, and the most fun. It feels like there is more replay here and than previous and future titles, and the gameplay was just as great as ever. All hail Hoenn!

8) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: Back in June of 2010, back when the 3DS just got announced and OoT3D got announced also, I hadn't played a Zelda game ever. So I decided "Instead of paying $40 later, I'll pay $10 now and save money!" I didn't expect to love it so much I'd have the original AND get the remake. 'nuff said about my opinion on this game.

9) Kirby & The Amazing Mirror: This game. So much to do. So much to explore. One of the greatest GBA games in... ever! I really hope the Virtual Console on 3DS gets GBA games, and I really hope this is one of them, since I lost my copy ;-;

10) Super Smash Bros Brawl: Something about this game is so charming, so addictive, so... epic. Nintendo did well with Brawl, and I can't wait to see what's next. This game is great, amazing, outstanding, except laggy online and tripping.

1. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
This game was my favourite game of my early childhood. This game really got me into video games. Everyone was addicted to it. I remember celebrating like crazy when I beat it for the first time.

2. Crash Bandicoot 2 (SPS)
While this game is really inferior to Crash 3, I really liked it the most. This was the first Crash game I played and it really got me crazy. I never beat it, because my Playstation got fuck'd. Now it just isn't the same.

3. Crash Team Racing (SPS)
Yep, another Crash game. This game was pure awesomeness. My whole class loved it, so we gathered at my place, as I was the only one with a PS. It even had a story of some sort.

4. Super Mario 64 (N64)
After playing Super Mario Bros. for five years, I kind of stopped playing video games for a brief period. Then my friend showed me this game and it was like a revelation. Awesome graphics, awesome levels, everything (and more!). We spent a lot of time playing this game, but I never beat it until a few years ago.

5. FIFA 98 (SPS) (Actually no, I think it was the World Cup game, though same shit)
Lol. This was the first football game I've played. I've played it casually a lot with my friends to the point where the CD just broke from overplaying (>.>). I am sure it was a FIFA game from 1998, but I think it was the World Cup game, which didn't matter to me at all (like I knew the difference back then).

6. Super Smash Bros. Melee & Brawl (NGC/Wii)
Yea. Addicting. Do I have to describe? Liked Melee's stunning graphics, but Brawl had online.

7. Dead or Alive (Arcade)
Yea, Arcade, not Sega Saturn. Every summer holiday when we go to our beach house, my cousin and I spent it playing this game on the arcades. It was so appealing, perhaps because of Kasumi :]

8. Spore (PC)
I don't know why I was really into this game. I just was. I really liked the concept, the level design and that different gameplay. Too bad there hasn't been a sequel so far.

9. Top Spin series (PC/X360)
Top Spin 1, 2, 3 & 4. The games I have been playing more than anything listed. Since I am a huge tennis fan, it is not a surprise really. Top Spin 3 made me buy an Xbox 360.

10. Ice Climbers (NES)
I just loved this game. Perhaps not as much as SMB, but definitely more than Space Invaders and Duck Hunt, which were also my faves. Though, at the time, I called the game "The Grannies", because I really thought the little climbers are actually old women.

Notable mentions (will add soon):

4: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (9.5 of 10) -N64/WiiVC-

9: Animal Crossing: City Folk (8.7 of 10) -Wii-
10: Super Mario Sunshine (8.7 of 10) -Gamecube-

As you can tell from this list, I am easily categorized as a neo-gamer. I have played those old games but I do not like them as much as these, Super Mario 64 was BARLEY nodded out by Mario Sunshine, 64 was gonna be 11

Hey. Quite frankly, this is like my fiftieth try at one of these
lists, but I finally found a conclusion. ONE GAME PER SERIES. That's
right, you won't be seeing me with a list full of all of my favorite
franchises. Here are the top ten best games of ALL TIME.
10. Conker's Bad Fur Day
9. Golden Sun
8. Super Smash Brothers Melee
7. Paper MarioIt's
6. Pokemon Gold and Silver
5. Halo Reach
4. Final Fantasy VII
3. The Legend of Dragoon
2. Okami
1. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
I made that list a couple months ago, Halo Reach will be higher sooner or later, Skyward Sword will be number one, Golden Sun Dark Dawn will replace it's predecessor.

Edit: wtf zman it's THE LEGEND OF ZELDA and u n33d it to be number one seriously infamis is higher? that game is ass.

I'm not a hater, I only hate it because it's a very bland, ugly, broken, and highly generic shooter that has some of the most boring gameplay in the entire industry. MW2 has a good campaign, could care less about Black Op's campaign, but MW2 has some of the worst online of all time, if not, the worst. It's full of hackers, the killstreaks are annoying, the graphics are muddy and ugly, and the game is far too easy to get kills, it takes no skill at all.

I agree, anyone who is looking for a decent fps shouldn't look at COD. The only thing in it that requires skill is hardcore SnD, which turns the game to who can ambush others best or who has 0.0001 quicker reaction time than the other.
Even tho when i first got mw2 i played nonstop for 1 month. Razz It's the cycle of COD
Get cod >> addicted >> realize what ure plying and get addicted to another game.

lol I love COD discusssions. Granted, I dislike almost all FPS's (with the exception of the 1 on my list it is literally ALL FPS's lol). That being said, it's a popular series so I see why people are mentioning it. ANYWAY, List time:

10. Record of Agarest War 1 (PSN, XBox 360): Ok, fair warning, THIS GAME IS NOT FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 16. It's a Strategy RPG from Japan (which should be your first hint about the appropriateness of it) which combines traditional team based RPG elements with a dating sim (your second hint about the appropriateness of this game). Essentially, you have the choice of 3 girls, you make choices to improve your relations just like in a dating sim, with the added element of having about 1000 fights with monsters of darkness which are trying to destroy the world. At the end, you choose a girl, and then continue the story with your son now as the main character. This continues for 5 Generations, which makes this game about 100 hours long just to complete it! Very fun, but VERY inappropriate at times (but thankfully no sex scenes).

9. Hyperdimension Neptunia 1 (PS3): Ok, this is a recent game, the gameplay itself is repetitive and easily broken.... BUT the character designs are, IMO, awesome (Gust is Moe) and this game is riddled with references to just about every popular series in gaming history (given the story is kind of a personification of the Console Wars from the turn of the century). For those reasons, it's on my list.

8. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona (PSX, PSP): This kind of fits the whole of the Persona franchise into one category, but Persona 1 was probably my favorite of the 4 (though I've never played an English version of 2). Kinda strange RPG with a lot of social interaction, but the story is so intense. Definately an exciting game.

7. Kingdom Hearts (PS2): Ok... I admit I'm a major crossover fanatic, but Disney meets Final Fantasy is too awesome not to be mentioned! Plus YOU BLUDGEON SHADOWS WITH A GIANT FUCKING KEY!!! What's not awesome about that?

6. Goldeneye 64 (Nintendo 64): Remember how I said I hate FPS's. This is the ONLY exception. While the genre has gotten a lot more graphically superior, this was still probably the best FPS ever made (IMO). Plus my friends hated me and Proximity Mines (I love Proximity Mines).

5. Super Mario Bros (Nindendo Entertainment System): The Original Mario Bros game, so easy you can beat it in under 6 minutes! But still one of the all time best games ever made, the levels were fun, the enemies were plentiful and in the end you still get told to do it all again to actually save the princess Razz.

4. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Super Nintendo Entertainment System): I know a lot of people have mentioned the 3D Zelda games, but I really got turned away from this series after a certain nameless annoying temple in a certain game.... Anyway this was probably the best game on the SNES (again IMO) and didn't have the annoyance of a certain temple.... (sorry I REALLY hated that dungeon).

3. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis): I saw someone mention 3&K, which easily had the best music of any of the 2D Sonics, however Sonic 2 was probably the best game from a level design and difficulty perspective, which makes it my favorite of the franchise.

2. Star Fox 64 (Nintendo 64): I loved this game, flying around shooting shit was fun. Plus it wasn't First Person (or at least didn't have to be) which made my day lol. The story is kind of lacking, but who doesn't enjoy shooting shit with lazers?

1. Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland (PS3): Ok, I'm a HUGE Atelier fan and could have filled this entire list with Atelier games if I had wanted to. But of all the Ateliers, this was my favorite bar none. Rorona-chan no KAWAII!!! Definately not your typical game to see in a top 10 list, given that it is essentially a giant fetch quest, but the characters designs are so adorable and the story is hilarious (and a bit inappropriate at times, which is why it's rated Teen). Plus the gameplay is actually pretty fun (despite being a giant fetch quest). Finally, the main character is MOE! Yes, this game is NOT for someone who doesn't care about this stuff, but I do, so I loved it. I could have put Totori or Meruru here, but Rorona is my personal favorite of the Arland Heroines, so she gets the top spot Razz.

Honourable Mention:

Disgaea Dawn of Darkness (PS2, PSP, DS) - The original Disgaea team based RPG. very funny and had Flonne, who is my favorite character in the series. Not as good as what's on the list though.

Cross Edge (PS3): Another crossover, this time between Capcom, Gust, Nipon Iichi Software, Red, 5pb, Idea Factory and Compile Heart. Essentially, take the best characters from the most famous anime style RPG franchises and put them in 1 game. Awesome, but the battle system is annoying as fuck.

Stein's Gate (PC and I think PS2): No official English release, so not on the list, this game is a giant mindfuck from Nitro+ and 5pb. Watching your poor character as he gets his mind broken trying to save his childhood friend from dying (because of him, poor Mayuri [Doot do DOO!]) is kind of sad, but still awesome. Plus it has a microwave that sends text messages to the past lol.

Saya no Uta (PC): Not on the list for 2 reasons. 1, I've never actually played it because 2, it's an erotic visual novel (aka hentai game) In the honourable mentions because I have read the comic based on the game, and it's scary as shit. Supposively the game is more graphic in some respects, and less graphic in others (reportedly in the game you never see what Saya actually looks like, which is probably a good thing). I happen to be a big fan of the scenario writer for Nitro+ Gen Urobuchi (who has also written a few of my favorite anime) and I've played a few of their non-hentai titles (Chaos Head and Stein's Gate in particular) so if this weren't a hentai game, I'd likely enjoy it. But it is, so I won't play it (but the comic cut out the majority of the scenes, so I read that Very Happy).
