Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that he is retiring from his current position at Nintendo, meaning he will no longer be in charge of the development of the bigger franchises such as Mario and Zelda. Instead he will be focusing on smaller projects that don’t have five-year development cycles. Here how he explained it:

What I really want to do is be in the forefront of game development once again myself. Probably working on a smaller project with even younger developers. Or I might be interested in making something that I can make myself, by myself. Something really small. In other words, I’m not intending to start from things that require a five-year development time.

I hope these people know what they're doing without Shigzy! I still hopes he will atleast give a bit of help for Zelda, Pikmin, etc.

The guy is almost 60 years old, cut him some slack. He's done his job here. I'm sure there are younger people that are as qualified for the job. I hope he enjoys his retirement.
